I started having sex at fourteen. If I hadn't had access to contraception, it wouldn't have stopped me from having sex. But it would almost certainly have resulted in one or more teen pregnancies.

If you’re looking for a way to make a bad situation worse, you've picked a great way to do it.

They were wrong.

Why do people keep complaining about how some people copy and paste the question before answering it? To me, it's very disturbing and makes me want to block and mute them as annoying whiners.

You can pretend that it won't happen to kids who are raised in good households by attentive parents, but you'll be fooling yourself.

My favorite playmate back then was the daughter of a church deacon and butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth. I guarantee you that her parents were certain she was too pure and too good a Christian to have sex with that weird Edwards boy down the road.

Short of locking them up around the clock, you literally can't stop teens from having sex if they want to. And if you withhold access to contraception, you're going to end up with a lot more pregnant teens.

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?
